Ex Cincinnati star pitcher to be questioned in murder, drugs probe

Santo Domingo. – Former Cincinnati Reds star pitcher Jose Rijo will be interrogated in the Justice Ministry today, in connection to the case of the fugitive and alleged narcotics trafficker Matías Avelino Castro and/or Joaquin Almeyda, wanted in the murder of La Romana journalist Jose Silvestre.

Rijo will face questioning by Anti-laundering Unit director German Miranda, into his business dealings with the fugitive.

Castro is charged with paying to kidnap and then murder Silvestre.

Several properties have been seized from the suspect thus far including the hotel Las Galeras, in Samana (northeast), several apartments and luxury vehicles, three boats and a yacht. Five people have been charged in the case, including one of the fugitive’s daughters.
