Immigration: Drivers carrying illegal migrants risk jail, loss of vehicle

Santo Domingo.- The Immigration Agency on Tuesday warned bus drivers against transporting undocumented foreigners in the national territory, since it violates Law 137-03 on the illicit traffic of migrants and dealing with people.

It said from now on drivers caught transporting foreigners illegally will be charged and their vehicles seized.

It revealed that several vehicles have been seized in the last few days, whose drivers transported undocumented foreigners in several localities across the country.

It adds that Immigration Law 137-03 stipulates the penalties imposed on people caught transporting migrants illegally, including imprisonment and the confiscation of the vehicles used for that purpose.
