Bachata ‘prince’ joins long list of Dominican artists facing felony charges

Santo Domingo.- Another Dominican Republic show business figure faces charges of sexually abusing a minor, for which a Monseñor Noel Province (central) judge issued an arrest warrant for bachata star Frank Reyes.

The lawyers for the artist, who’s on tour of the U.S., say he’ll appear before on before the Prosecutor’s Office in Bonao Tuesday morning to respond to the accusations.

The minor, 15, underwent medical exams to determine if she was abused.

Her relatives filed civil suit on alleged abuse which they affirm took place at a farm owned by Reyes, known as "The Prince of bachata" for his numerous hits.

Several leading Dominican show biz figures have been jailed in recent months, including hip-hop star Vakero, former Latin American Idol winner Martha Heredia, and urban music bandleader Omega, among others.
