Four burglars gunned down in shootout with Police, reports

SANTO DOMINGO.- Four alleged thugs died and one was wounded in a Wednesday morning shootout with police, which surprised them burglarizing houses in the sector Campos Fernandez, of the central city San Francisco de Macorís, local reports say.

The dead were identified as Michael Cáceres, 27; Junior Encarnación (Piñita), 30; Francisco Miguel Minaya (Tata), and José Alberto Rodríguez (Chaveta), whereas the injured is Vid Antonys Gutiérrez, 22.

The Police said it recovered two pistols and two shotguns at the scene, allegedly used to attack the agents, and three cell phones, a black cap with the Police emblem, and a bulletproof vest.

The Police report says the agents were tipped off on the burglaries, but upon arriving at the site were greeted with gunfire and that they were being sought in connection with several crimes.
