Attorney is jailed on charges filed by the Vice President

Santiago.- A Santiago judge set bail at RD$800,000, a travel ban and periodic visits to the Office of the Prosecutor against TV host and lawyer Marcos Martinez, on charges by vice president Margarita Cedeño, when she was the first lady.

2nd Instruction Court judge Clara Vargas also ruled to hold Martinez in the courthouse jail until making bail.

The TV personality, who declared himself a political prisoner, was charged with forgery and slander in February 2012, when he alleged that Cedeño had 43 million euros in a Denmark bank account.

His attorneys challenged the ruling and claimed bias in favor of Cedeño.
