Local official confirmed dead in Spain train derailment(Update6)

Santo Domingo.-Economy minister Temistocles Montas on Friday said Spanish authorities have certified the death of the official Rosalina Ynoa in the train accident on Wednesday.

Montas said her death was certified by Spanish authorities in the presence of consular officials of the Dominican Republic in Spain.

"In communicating this unfortunate death, we express in my name and in the staff of this Department, our deepest condolences to the family of our deceased and unforgettable official."

File.-Dominican ambassador in Spain Cesar Medina on Thursday said Economy deputy minister Rosalina Ynoa still figures on the list of the missing, and that her body has yet to be identified. “We await the authorities of Santiago to contact her relatives and her sister has been contacted.”

Quoted by elcaribe.com.do, Medina noted however that if the official’s death is confirmed, her body would be repatriated to her country. “We arrived at Santiago heading the Dominican delegation and we have determined that there can’t verify say t if there any other Dominicans among the victims. Five minutes ago the Galicia authorities issued be a statement reiterating that Ynoa still figures among the missing.”

Dominican official Rosalina Ynoa, 43, was traveling to the Galicia region to visit relatives, said Ibero-American Secretary General Enrique Iglesias in a statement from Madrid.

Ynoa was director of the ministry’s International Cooperation Analysis Unit, said agency spokesman Manuel Jiménez.
