Labor clears confusion: Friday is Restoration Day, workers are off

Santo Domingo. – An emailed statement from the Labor Ministry on Tuesday reiterating that Friday, August 16, Restoration Day, isn’t changed to Monday, reveals the lack of planning when lawmakers try to obtain three-day weekends without interrupting the country’s entire businesses and industries.

“As the Supreme Court ruling handed down February 20, 2008 declared Unconstitutional to change that day, the Labor Ministry notes that Friday, August 16 is NOT a working day and calls on people to observe the Day of Restoration,” the Labor Ministry said.

It adds that the working class should resume its daily activities on Saturday, August 17.
