Santiago: Supervisor steals over RD$2 million from gas plant

Santiago—Police agents assigned to the Cibao Central Regional Office in Santiago arrested a woman by court order for embezzling funds from a gas bottling company where she worked. The woman stole 2,231,000 pesos from the company’s sales.

Arisleida Ureña Mejía, 48 years old, was arrested by agents of the Department of Investigation of Crimes and Crimes against Property (DICRIM), belonging to Mary López, with arrest warrant No. 10727-2023. Ureña Mejía worked as a propane gas bottling plant supervisor, stealing $2,321,000 pesos.

The warrant was issued after an audit revealed that the gas station’s sales deposits were insufficient, resulting in the missing amount. Ureña Mejía, when questioned, admitted having stolen the money.

The case will be placed under the control of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the corresponding legal purposes.
