Export Bank row: Politico to respond to industrialists in ‘timely manner’

Santo Domingo.- The head of the National Housing Bank (BNV) on Friday said he’ll respond in a “timely manner” the personal and political attacks for alleged malfeasance surfaced Thursday from sectors opposed to his designation as manager of the recently created Export Development Bank (Bandex).

Frederico (Quiqui) Antun’s statement comes just 24 hours after Dominican Republic’s Industries Association (AIRD) advised Congress that theBANDEX, "should be directed by independent people linked to the export sector."

Quoted by diariolibre.com, the also president of the minority pro-government PRSC party reiterated: "I’ll give you answer promptly, it’s the only thing I have to say."

The BNV later sent a statement to announce a press conference 8:30am Tuesday.

Although the AIRD didn’t mention Antun by name, the industrial group’s statement implies for his dismissed from the post, an argument reaffirmed by the fact that the politician isn’t linked to the export sector.
