Karisma Hotels & Resorts introduces Autism Passport for enhanced guest experience

Punta Cana.- Karisma Hotels & Resorts has joined forces with Autism Double-Checked (ADC) to introduce an Autism Passport, making them the pioneering hotel collection to adopt such a measure.

Termed as a “comprehensive guest tool,” the Autism Passport empowers guests to relay vital information to Karisma hotels, certified airlines, and airports. This information encompasses sensory triggers, special interests, and calming strategies.

Esteban Velásquez, CEO of Karisma Hotels & Resorts, stated, “This ongoing collaboration resonates with Karisma’s overarching objective of ensuring every guest feels embraced and assisted.” He further added, “We believe that the introduction of the Autism Passport signifies a significant stride in our mutual commitment to delivering an exceptional experience for all travelers.”

Among Karisma’s Autism Double-Checked certified hotels are Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya, Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana, Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana, Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancún, and Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancún. Azul Beach Resort in Negril, Jamaica, and Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Maya are currently undergoing certification and are expected to be fully certified by the end of 2024.

Alan Day, co-founder and CEO of Autism Double-Checked, emphasized, “Traveling with autism greatly benefits from thorough planning, and personalized information is pivotal in this process.” He continued, “Karisma’s unwavering commitment to accommodating guests with autism makes them the natural choice to pioneer this significant tool.”

The Autism Passport builds upon the foundation laid by the Autism Concierge program, jointly launched by Karisma and ADC last summer. This initiative assigns guests a dedicated point of contact for addressing autism-related queries and concerns.

ADC stands as a frontrunner in providing training and resources to cater to neurodiverse travelers, offering its Autism Double-Checked certification program to hotels and airports. As part of this certification, ADC delivers specialized autism preparedness training to staff and compiles a visitor guide tailored for neurodiverse travelers, containing crucial information such as crowd expectations and safety protocols.
