García Fermín: Dominican Republic higher education is among the best in Latin America and the Caribbean

He assures that government investments have especially benefited young people.

Salcedo—The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mescyt), Franklin García Fermín, assured today that the country’s higher education is one of the best in Latin America and the Caribbean.

According to the official, this is due to the substantial resources invested in this matter by the government presided over by Mr. Luis Abinader, the great beneficiaries of which have been the young people of the entire national territory.

In this sense, García Fermín explained that, as a ministry, he has been aware of the progress made in this area by the country’s universities, which have taken transcendental steps in the quality of the training of professionals in all areas.

The Minister pointed out that he personally and his technical team have worked with each of the universities to ensure that they comply not only with the Ministry’s criteria but also with the quality and modernization standards required today.

“All this has been achieved thanks to the work we have done as a ministry, but also to the effort made by our President Luis Abinader so that the resources, that is, every penny that comes to us, we know how to invest where it is needed, so you see that in the agreements we have made to send our students to study postgraduate degrees in different parts of the world, our boys and girls come with much more training and always get grades not good, but excellent, and there are the statistics,” said García Fermín.

The Minister of Higher Education reiterated that the degree of modernization of the sector that he represents within the government has worked tirelessly to place the country among the most privileged in Latin America and the Caribbean.

“Now, this does not mean that we stop there, no, never, what this indicates to us as a Ministry is that we must continue to redouble our efforts as a country, and as an official so that this country in higher education is not only one of the best in the area, but the best, and that is what we are working for,” said Mescyt, Dr. Franklin García Fermín.
