Santo Domingo.- Hurricane Beryl has significantly impacted the Caribbean tourism industry, leading to numerous cancellations in both flight and cruise operations. At Las Americas Airport (AILA), eight flights have been cancelled, according to Aerodom.
Luis José López, Aerodom’s Corporate Communications Director, listed the affected flights:
These cancellations involve flights operated by American Airlines, Arajet, and Avianca. López noted that Jamaica has also closed its airport operations, leading to additional flight cancellations as reported by Diario Libre.
Airlines have opted to rearrange their flight schedules as a precautionary measure due to the adverse weather conditions caused by Hurricane Beryl. The rescheduling of flights is expected to occur on Wednesday, contingent upon weather conditions.
In addition to flight disruptions, several cruise lines including Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and Carnival have adjusted their Caribbean itineraries in response to Hurricane Beryl. These adjustments prioritize the safety of both passengers and crew.
Royal Caribbean has modified the routes for its ships Icon of the Seas, Wonder of the Seas, and Harmony to ensure the comfort and safety of guests and crew. Norwegian Cruise Line has made changes to the itineraries of ships Jade, Takeaway, and Norwegian Breakaway, the latter of which embarked on a week-long trip from Miami last Sunday.
