City Hall and Cervecería Nacional partner to build new park in Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo.- The National District City Hall and Cervecería Nacional Dominicana have broken ground on a new park, Parque Vía, located in the Los Ríos neighborhood. This project is the culmination of over 40 years of requests from local residents to transform the previously neglected space, which had been used as an improvised dump, workshop, and parking lot.

The park, which will feature benches, lighting, a walking path, a workout area and a dog park, is being developed with an investment of approximately six million pesos. This initiative aligns with the city’s efforts to provide citizens with spaces for healthy recreation and improve their overall well-being.

National District Mayor Carolina Mejía expressed her gratitude for Cervecería Nacional Dominicana’s support and assured residents that the park would be ready for use within a month. She encouraged community members to help maintain the park. “I ask you, the residents of this neighborhood, to join us in building and transforming this space into the place we all dream of and deserve,” Mejía stated.

Ana María Martínez, Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs at Cervecería Nacional Dominicana, expressed the company’s enthusiasm for partnering with the community on this project. “Supporting our neighbors in creating this space is very exciting for us. At Cervecería, we deeply share the sense of brotherhood and community that defines us as Dominicans. We hope that this new urban infrastructure will be a meeting place and another reason to celebrate being together,” Martínez said.

Through this partnership, the brewery aims to amplify the impact of this transformation, ensuring that the new park not only serves as a gathering place but also reflects the joint commitment of both institutions to the well-being and sustainable future of Los Ríos residents.

Mayor Carolina Mejía has overseen the renovation and construction of over 175 parks in the past four years, thanks to strategic partnerships with businesses and community involvement. These initiatives have provided residents of the National District with much-needed recreational spaces.
