Guests arrived on foot to the National Theater through a long roadblock

Santo Domingo – Agents who rigorously fulfilled their mission of safeguarding security, a nervous protocol staff running from one side to the other, representatives of the media stationed in the front row with cameras and microphones in hand, and agents of the National Institute of Traffic and Land Transport (Intrant), with the mission of controlling the prolonged blockage of Máximo Gómez Avenue, was the stage experienced outside the Eduardo Brito National Theater, before the swearing-in of President Luis Abinader.

As the hands of the clock struck ten in the morning and due to the obstruction of traffic, the guests hurried and nervous to arrive on time for this great event, were forced to get out of their brand new vehicles, braving the inclement summer sun and walking as if it were a fashion catwalk along the entire Máximo Gómez, dressed as established by the dress code: in a white suit with a black tie, for gentlemen, and a white suit with black closed shoes for ladies.

In that same scenario, the other side of the coin also manifested itself: the ordinary citizen, the one who did not comply with the dress code, and who, with one voice and carrying banners with messages about the “Independent Public Prosecutor’s Office,” and “Luis, four more years” “We continue,” among others.

The solemnity of this event did not prevent the Dominican from expressing himself in the most humorous way possible, as was the personification of Chapulín Colorado who jumped to the rhythm of “They did not count on my astuteness”.

Although the start of the event was scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., it was delayed by almost half an hour, with the arrival of the president at 11:15 a.m. in his Tesla license plate 01 vehicle. At the same time, along the entire road length, his followers waved tiny flags, shouting, “We are four more!”

It is the first time that this solemn act of the National Assembly was moved from the National Congress building to the facilities of the Eduardo Brito National Theater, attended by leaders and representatives of 87 nations and 21 international organizations, special guests, ambassadors, as well as members of the cabinet who will accompany Abinader in this second term.

Similarly, this inauguration will be remembered for being the first to feature the parade on the Red Carpet of art figures such as Marc Anthony and his spouse, Nuria Piera, Rafa Rosario, and Ramón Orlando, among others.
