4.5 magnitude earthquake shakes northwest Dominican Republic and Haiti

Santiago, DR.- A 4.5 magnitude earthquake struck Santiago and the northwest region of the Dominican Republic and Haiti at 11:55 PM on Tuesday. The earthquake’s epicenter was located 14 kilometers deep in Sabaneta, Santiago Rodríguez province.

So far, no reports of damage or casualties have been confirmed in the Dominican Republic. Rescue teams have not found any significant human or material impact.

The tremor was strongly felt in the Dominican provinces of Santiago Rodríguez, Valverde, Dajabón, and Montecristi. However, the quake’s intensity was more pronounced in northern Haiti, particularly in Juana Méndez, Cap-Haïtien, Fort-Liberté, and surrounding areas.
