Persistent heavy rains flood Santiago

Santiago, DR.- Heavy rains from a weather trough have continued to flood Santiago, creating significant disruptions across major streets and avenues for a second day. The rainfall began on Wednesday, October 23, and has worsened conditions for vehicle movement in areas like Salvador Estrella Sadhalá, 27 de Febrero, Circunvalación Sur, Tamboril, and Hatuey, where large puddles are causing issues for drivers.

According to the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet), the rains, which intensified Thursday around 4:00 p.m. and lasted nearly two hours, are expected to persist through the weekend. Authorities are closely monitoring the weather, with concerns of ongoing urban flooding in affected areas.
