Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s military and police commanders met with Presidency chief of staff Gustavo Montalvo Friday, to better coordinate the National Emergency System 9-1-1.
When asked about the meeting, National Police chief Manuel Castro said it was to further integrate the armed forces to improve the service of prevention in Greater Santo Domingo and ensure better public safety.
He said that among the aspects to improve figure a heightened police presence in the streets and operations against criminals. "Also increase the capacity for raids in searches for weapons and the fight against drug trafficking which creates great violence and crime in the Dominican Republic."
Also present in the National Palace meeting were Defense minister Maximiliano William Muñoz; Navy chief of staff Edmundo Félix; of the Air Force, Elvis M. Feliz and of the Army, José Eugenio Matos.
