Trash heaps prompt Dominican Republic military ‘coup’ of ex Dodgers slugger

San Cristobal, Dominican Republic.- Former LA Dodgers slugger Raul Mondesi on Wednesday was the victim of a ‘military coup’ headed by the Environment Ministry, after weeks of mounting trash blamed on his administration’s failure as Mayor of the sprawling southern city.

A Dominican Air Force colonel heads the military continent deployed at the front of the San Cristóbal City Council since early morning, to organize trash collection in the country’s 3rd biggest city.

The Environment Ministry also stationed eight garbage trucks in front of the building, to be distributed to the most affected sectors.

This Public Health and Environment ministries city declared a state of emergency, after San Cristobal’s authorities failed to comply with a mandated waste pick and transport plan.
