US Embassy heads Jackie Robinson baseball camp in San Pedro

San Pedro, Dominican Republic. –The US Embassy, Major League Baseball (MLB), the San Pedro Baseball Association and the Robinson Cano Foundation on Tuesday announced the "Jackie Robinson Camp" from 2:30pm Saturday at Tetelo Vargas Stadium in San Pedro.

The camp includes eight simultaneous baseball clinics provided by MLB, each headed by one major league baseball player.

Robinson Cano, Nelson Cruz, David Ortiz, Pedro Martinez, Luis Mercedes, Eugenio Velez, Carlos Santana, Pedro Ciriaco, Carlos Santana, Eduardo Núñez, Juan Encarnacion and Pedro Florimón figure among the invited players.

US Embassy Public Affairs director James Russo, Robinson Cano, San Pedro Baseball of the Association president Jose Cano, while Osiris Ramirez and Neskys Liriano participated for Major League Baseball.

The clinics will have the full participation of 300 youngsters from San Pedro’s minor leagues.
