Dominican Republic’s top telecom to invest US$244.4M in 2015

Santo Domingo. – Claro telecom service provider CEO Oscar Peña on Tuesday announced RD$11.0 billion (US$244.4 million) investment in 2015 and around RD$35.0 billion during the next 3 years.

Speaking at a luncheon with media directors and opinion makers, Peña said Claro’s parent company America Movil leads the region with presence in 18 Latin America countries and 10 in Europe.

Among the company’s most relevant achievement in 2014, the executive cited the launch of the 4GLTE network whose service covers 80% of the population to date at a cost of US$225 million.

He also announced the Claro Cloud solutions, which he affirms provide high efficiency, profitability and low operating cost for companies and corporations.

In the activity held at Claro headquarters, Peña provided details on Claro’s market share in all its business areas, where he stressed the company’s leadership I the country, adding that the telecom’s 2014 tax payments topped RD$12 billion.
