Secrets starts US$160.0M resort in Dominican Republic

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.- President Danilo Medina on Friday headed groundbreaking for the hotel Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa, to be built in Punta Cana (east) at a cost of more than US$160.0 million.

During the ceremony the Head of State was accompanied by Apple Leisure Group CEO John Mullen, general manager Alejandro Zozaya and of and Tourism Minister Francisco Javier García, who stressed the importance of starting the new hotel’s construction, which he affirms will help Medina reach the goal of attracting more tourists to the country.

The hotel executives said the construction will create 4,000 new direct and indirect jobs.

As to the new property’s characteristics, Zozaya said it will be a 5-star hotel with 470 suites. "This hotel will be a flagship of the Secrets Brand; it will be our company’s 43rd hotel."
