Santo Domingo.- Former president Leonel Fernandez continued his campaign for the presidential nomination of Dominican Republic’s ruling party (PLD) over the weekend, with stops in the capital and Nagua (northeast).

He said the PLD will win the 2016 elections from the first balloting , and predicted that Nagua and María Trinidad Sánchez province will continue progressing.

"Already in Nagua, and since we arrived, we felt the blowing of the Atlantic winds. What a welcome!," tweeted Fernandez, who also visited Puerto Plata.
