Sperry shoes sets target at 6.0M pairs in Dominican Republic

Sperry Top-Sider shoe company executives on Wednesday cited Dominican Republic’s business climate to double footwear production in the country’s Industrial Free Zones.

Sperry Top-Sider president Rick Blackshaw visited D’Clase shoes and local hides supplier B’Leather, two companies awarded by the US firm for their support to Sperry’s business development during the last five years.

Blackshaw, accompanied by other senior executives, also visited National Free Zones Council director Luisa Fernández

José Miguel Clase, of D’Clase shoes Jose L. Bonilla Bojos, of Bojos Tannery and Aquiles Bermudez, of B’Leather.

Goal is six million pairs

Footwear manufacturing figures among Dominican Republic’s most dynamic productive activities, including Sperry Top-Sider’s around 2.5 million pairs per year, spurring its executives to announce production of 6.0 million pairs over the next few years, or more than double the current figure.
