Bill refunds sales tax to tourists who buy local products

Santo Domino.- National District deputy David Collado on Thursday submitted to Congress a bill aimed at refunding the sales (ITBIS) tax to tourists who buy and consume Dominican-made products.

The legislator said more 12 countries refund that type of tax to tourists, which he affirms boosts the visitors’ purchasing power and increases consumption in shops of locally-made products.

Collado said to get the refund the proposed legislation stipulates that a tourist’s purchase must be of over US$75.
