Dominicans knock off Puerto Ricans to reach Americas U16 Semis

Bahia Blanca, Argentina.– The Dominican Republic edged out Puerto Rico, 71-66, on the final day of Preliminary Round action at the 2015 FIBA Americas U16 Championship to complete the Semi-Final line-up.

According to FIBA.com, the Dominicans also secured their first-ever participation in the FIBA U17 World Championship, with the fourth edition of the tournament to be played from 16-24 July 2016.

In a highly-emotional and competitive game, the Dominican Republic were in control, only to see Puerto Rico mount a comeback in the final minutes. However, Jose Benitez coolly sealed the deal from the free-throw line.
