Overseer says 239 city councils fail to report use of funds

Puerto Plata, DominicanRepublic.- Accounts Chamber president Licelott Marte on Friday revealed that239 city councils have yet to file their budget information for this year.

Among the citycouncils in violation of the law figures Puerto Plata, which still hasn’t submittedits expenditure report for this year and is unable to explain how taxpayers´money has been spent.

Marte blamed theDominican Municipal League for failing to withhold funds and put a halt to construction permits untilthe city councils submit their reports.
