The OAS should adopt reality, get past lies: Industrialists

Santo Domingo.- To contribute to defuse the crisisbetween Dominican Republic and Haiti, the OAS should adopt realisticassumptions to surmount the distortions, misinformation and lies, said the Herreraand Santo Domingo Province Industrial Association (AEIH) president on Sunday.

Antonio Taveras made the statement after delivering adocument to the OAS delegation that recently visited the country, which statesthe industrialists’ position.

The business leader said Haiti’s alleged humanitariancrisis isn’t a phenomenon created by the Dominican government’s alienregularization program, and instead by historical roots and institutional and presentpolitical causes.

Taveras said contrary to stoking a potential crisis inthe neighboring country, the Dominican Republic has maintained an attitude ofcooperation and solidarity to deal with Haiti’s dire situation.
