Santo Domingo.- Santo Domingo Water Utility (CAASD) director Alejandro Montas on Wednesday denied that the Capital has water for only 35 days, as the head of the National Water Institute (INAPA) affirmed Tuesday.
"With regard to the days which the engineer Alberto Holguin refers to, we don’t agree with setting days and limits, that´s not possible, because there are many factors that determine these inaccurate dates," Montas said.
The official said the factors include the three cubic meters per second of water that continue to enter Valdesia Dam and pointed out that the life of that reservoir is indeterminable because the CAASD works to extend the life of the dam, to ensure drinking water to residents of Greater Santo Domingo.
Montas added that the CAASD continue to offer a better service to the public, as its technicians were prepared long ago to deal with the current drought across the country. "The good news is that we already have in Customs all the equipment need to rehabilitate 50 wells…”
