TS Erika leads to flight cancelations, university and government office closures

Santo Domingo.- TropicalStorm Erika is causing widespread disruption to routine in the DominicanRepublic this Friday. A number of flights have been cancelled, the courts have stopped work and the PassportOffice announced it would be closed, and the UASD University has called offclasses along with all the country’s schools.

The affected flights areCubana and Spirit airlines from Las Americas (AILA) to Santiago, Cuba and FortLauderdale respectively, and Insel Air to St. Martin and Seaborne to andfrom San Juan, Puerto Rico.

So far, all other flights areoperating as scheduled, but the airport management company Aerodom is advisingpassengers to contact the airlines by phone or by visiting their website to findout whether the flights are delayed or cancelled.
