New faces head AMCHAMDR volunteer work groups

Santo Domingo.- TheAmerican Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR) has renewedthe presidency of some of its working committees, a joint action that allowsthe organization to strengthen its contribution to improving the businessclimate , trade and investment in the country.

Alexander Schad, CEO ofSchad, replaces José Nelton González, leading the Trade Facilitation Committee;Maria Waleska Alvarez, President of Caribbean NAP, replaces Julio Adames andMaria Esther Fernandez, Partner of Russin Vecchi & Heredia Bonetti, replacesMary Fernandez.

All outgoing executivesremain as members of their respective committees, who voluntarily belong tohigh-level professionals.

Rafael Velasco, GeneralManager of Raveza and Nassim Alemany, Partner of Deloitte Economics RD remainas head of the committees on Energy and Economy, respectively.

Through its workcommittees, AMCHAMDR provides content to the public debate through which seeksto improve the business and investment climate in the country in areas ofdirect influence

The executive orderauthorizing the creation of logistics centers in the country and the bankruptcylaw are two recent examples where AMCHAMDR has played a starring role for beingdirectly involved in processes that have been carried out until approval.

The modernized CustomsAct, functionality in the field of property jurisdiction, implemented actionsto take advantage of the Free Trade Agreement with the United States(DR-CAFTA), progress towards Dominican Republic´s total digital qualityconnectivity, the Electricity Pact to achieve a real solution to the crisis inthe sector to guarantee efficiency and sustainability, and achieve a fiscalpact that includes calls to ensure quality of public spending measures are the processesthat the AMCHAMDR committees work on.

Through them, AMCHAMDR alsoseeks to promote greater institutional strength and greater respect for therule of law as a guarantee of prosperity and equity for the production systemand for citizens.
