Despite having the world’s most generals, Dominican leader churns out more

Santo Domingo.- Despite Dominican Republic’s embarrassingrecord of having the world’s most generals, at least 100 according to a recent report,president Danilo Medina on Monday promoted three Army colonels to the rank ofbrigadier general.

Executive order 126-16 promotes colonels Victor MercedesCepeda, Manuel Antonio Lachapelle and Mélido Barrio Marte to brigadier general.The latter is the son of Accounts Chamber president Licelott Marte.

“The president this year promoted 19 colonels to the rank ofbrigadier general and rear admiral, ballooning the already saturated registry whichsurpasses 160 officers with the insignia of stars,” outlet acento.comeditorialized on Aug. 21, 2014.
