Smoke spews from Las Americas Airport; Firefighters on the scene

Santo Domingo.- Widespread smokeaffects an area of Las Americas International Airport since early Monday, with terminalauthorities confirming that it’s the result of a fire in a facility.

Airport PR Yolanda Mañan said the flights continue normally.

Firefighters cordoned off the areaand didn’t allow access for the press.

Smoke comes from a storage facilitywithin the terminal’s VIP area, where firefighters from the Boca Chica FireDept. work the scene.

Mañan said thefirefighters investigate the cause of the smoke.
