State university can’t continue wasting time demanding what is due: Candidate

Santo Domingo.- APD party presidential candidate MinouTavarez on Tuesday said the government has to comply with the established fundingfor the Santo Domingo State University, UASD, the center of higher learning which"shouldn’t continue wasting its time and teaching demanding what is due."

Speaking at the UASD during the signing of agreements for compliancewith the Law on Higher Education, Tavarez noted that the UASD should also honorits commitments to Dominican society, being "a critical, open and people’suniversity…"

"We don’t want just a factory of professionals, we expectwise and free women and men, especially free and able to transform the presententrenched in their daily lives," she said.

She said the UASD should also play its role as the leading highereducation center. "The UASD must exclusively revalidate all foreignprofessional qualifications and Dominican professionals graduated abroad."
