Four Rio 2016 spots decided at FIVB Olympic qualifier, DR says goodbye

Tokyo.- For the Dominican women the win over Kazakhstan was some consolation for a disappointing tournament, but the lack of preparation made the national team say goodbye to the dream of securing a spot at this year’s Olympic Games.

Dominican coach Marcos Kwiek said he is happy with the victory over Kazakhstan. "This tournament has not produced the results we wished for. This was due to a lack of preparation time. We have a tough match with Korea tomorrow that we must prepare for now."

All four qualification spots for Rio 2016 were secured on the penultimate day of action at the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Women’s Olympic Qualification Tournament in Tokyo: the Netherlands, Italy, South Korea and hosts Japan.
