Santo Domingo.- Public Works minister Gonzalo Castillo and MetropolitanTransit Authority (AMET) director Frener Bello on Monday said they work togetherto speed up traffic in downtown Santo Domingo, to benefit the entire population.
They said their joint efforts have improved traffic significantly.
Castillo and Bello Arias spoke to reporters at a busyintersection in the upscale sector Naco, to kick off a wide reaching program ofroad signs at intersections where traffic is high, to avert gridlocks.
Among the measure figure painted medinas, traffic cones andintersections, indicating the ??no-stopping zones.
Castillo said in addition to road signs, the two-stage programtargets hazardous drivers and controls offenders.
He acknowledged however that while road solutions havehelped expedite traffic, complementing those actions requires driver education.
