Companies, traders, investors converge on Dominican Week in the UK

London.- Power companies, traders, investment funds,services and other areas of the Dominican Republic are in London from June 6 to8 to for the first in the fifth edition of the Dominican Week in the UK,coordinated by the British Chamber of Commerce (BRITCHAM) in collaboration withthe Dominican Embassy in Great Britain, aimed at exploring businessopportunities in meetings with British counterparts.

BRITCHAM president Jose A. Rodriguez said Dominican delegationswill hold high-level meetings which seek to attract British investment to thecountry and promote increased domestic exports to the European nation.

“The Dominican mission seeks to spur interest in British investmentin strategic sectors for the Dominican Republic, either directly, by fundingthe development of already established companies, or through joint-ventures orpublic private partnerships,” the organizers said in a statement.

They said new investment opportunities in the Dominican oiland gas sector will be revealed in a panel headed by Energy and Mines deputy ministerAlberto Reyes.

National Business Council (CONEP) president Rafael Blanco saidinvestment opportunities in the energy sector and an update on the NationalPact to Reform the Dominican Electricity Sector will also be presented.

The week of activities also features visits to places of interest,such as the London Stock Exchange, led by Dominican Republic SecuritiesExchange executive vice president Hamlet Hermann, a panel with experts and potentialinvestors in renewable energies and oil, as well a meeting with senior Britishofficials.

"From the British Chamber of Commerce we always try toestablish win-win business models. With the Dominican Week participants providean interesting institutional agenda, customized and aligned to the strategicinterests of each delegate," said BRTICHAM executive director FrancescaOrtiz.

The Dominican Week in the UK is sponsored by Start, EGEHaina, Air Europa, Air Lift Group, Kah Kow, Procigar, Mercado Magazine, amongothers.
