Pension Fund tops US$6.7B in just 13 years

Santo Domingo.- The president of the Dominican Associationof Pension Funds Administrators (ADAFP) on Sunday stressed the growth of theaccumulated assets of the Social Security system’s affiliate workers, whichexceed RD$309.0 billion (US$6.7 billion) and its impact on the economy.

Kirsis Jaquez said the pension system administered by theAFP has more than 3.1 million members, many of whom have already receivedbenefits and protection.

Jaquez spoke after a mass to mark the 13th anniversary ofthe Social Security Pension System, attended by executives of the ADAFP andother Pension Fund administrators.

“Today we’re commemorating the 13 years of theestablishment and start of the Social Security Pension System where we havemore than 3.1 million workers affiliated to the AFP with an accumulated intheir individual accounts in excess of 309 billion pesos,” she said.
