Authorities rescue 12 Indians held against their will in local hotel

Santo Domingo.- Police and prosecutors on Wednesday rescued 12India nationals held against their will in a hotel of the National District, allegedlyby a lawyer and two other men who were demanding payment of US$10,000.

In a statement the police said the foreignerswere rescued at 2:30pm in the hotel located in the La Fe sector, where theywere allegedly detained by the lawyer Jesus Manuel Capellan Rivera, 32, SantoCorrea Araujo, 31 and Kelvin Ezequiel Calcaño Frias, 27, who were arrested.

The Indians were identified as VarinderSingie, Sandee Pssingm, Amrypal Sing, Gangadeep Arora, Satwinder Sing, MajinderSing, Arsmdeep Singh, Inderjit Singh Tind, Surjant Singh, Love Preet Singh, GurJain Sing, Civerjaint Sing and Manjit Singh.

The agents seized a Browning 380 handgun andammo from Calcaño Frias, allegedly owned by the lawyer.
