Monte Grande dam starts once coal-plant is finished: senator

Barahona, Dominican Republic.- Constructionof Monte Grande dam (west) will start as soon as the Punta Catalina coal-fired powerplant is finished, as confirmed by president Danilo Medina to senator EddyMateo.

Mateo said Medina had told him that the governmentwould finance the dam would if Brazil’s State-owned BNDES bank doesn’t disabusethe funds.

He said a Senate resolution asked Medina togive Monte Grande dam the same financing facilities as those for Punta Catalina."The resolution was delivered to president Danilo Medina last Thursdayduring the inauguration of the reconstruction of the Sabana Yegua dam."
