Hoteliers: international brands enrich the city; hail InterContinental

Santo Domingo.- The inaugural of the Hotel Real InterContinental Santo Domingo enriches the city’s offer and strengthens its position as a leading urban tourism destination in the Caribbean.

Santo Domingo Hotel Association president Roberto Henríquez hailed the inaugural of the 5-star property which adds 227 rooms to the Dominican capital, which now has 26 first-class hotels.

"The amendment to the tourism incentive law has benefited the entire nation, have attracted new hotel investments to our city, and it’s very positive because it creates jobs and energizes the economy," Henríquez said in an emailed statement.

He said when world-class brands such as "Intercontinental" arrive it benefits a destination because it promotes and attracts tourism increases the frequent travelers’ confidence.

The hotelier congratulated the new property on behalf of the association, and stressed that Santo Domingo has grown as a city for urban tourism in recent years with the arrival of brands such as Marriott, Sheraton, Embassy Suites, JW Marriott and InterContinental.
