Santo Domingo.- Environment Minister Francisco Dominguez on Thursday announced that visitor to the country’s numerous protected areas can enter free of charge on June 3, 4 and 5 as part of the activities to mark World Environment Day on June 5.
He called on the population to visit those areas to honor the 2017 theme of “Connect people with nature.”
“With the measure, the institution seeks to encourage Dominicans and foreigners to go out into the open air and penetrate the island’s natural treasures, appreciate its beauty and learn about the importance of its conservation,” the official said in a statement.
He added that every 1st Sunday in June marks “Family Friendly Day with the Environment” established by executive order. “Therefore, this next June 3 the entity will hosts a series of activities at the National School of the Environment, in Jarabcoa to celebrate both dates in a “Party with Nature.”
