Central Romana mills a record 188,812 tons of refined sugar

La Romana, Dominican Republic.- Central Romana Corp. set a production record of 188,812 short tons of refined sugar during the 2016-2017 harvest, a quantity it affirms “will guarantee the stable supply of this product for the national market.”

The mill based in La Romana (east) ends the harvest cycle milling over 3.5 million short tons of cane, for a production of 379,724 short tons of 96 °grade sugar, in addition to 23.7 million gallons of molasses.

Central Romana, whose refined sugar production has been certified under ISO-9001 quality control since 2011 by the English firm Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance, since last year has been operating three electrostatic precipitators in its boiler system that has cut the emission of solid particles to the atmosphere by 90%.
