8 sentenced for 6 underworld murders in Santiago

Santiago.- A Santiago province court on Thurs. handed down sentences as long as 30 years in prison for eight people found guilty of the drug-related murders of one Dominican and five foreigners six years ago in the country’s second biggest city.

Jose Amable Morel Ventura (El Monstro); Jerry Rafael Heredia Suero, José Wellington de Jesús Sosa, Miguel Eduardo Díaz Polanco, (Ñelo), and Héctor Vargas Valerio (Figura) will spend 30 years in prison.

Sentenced to 20 years in jail were Eddy Antigua (Melaza), while Elba Benita Diaz Polanco and Noyra Altagracia Rosario will spend 10 years behind bars.

The group murdered Jesús Durán Jiménez (Eronel “El Gordo”), the Spaniard Pablo Fanjul García, the Colombians Carlos Arturo Pedraza García, Serafín Alvarado Bautista, and Héctor Elías Peña García, as well as the Venezuelan Silvio César Sánchez Monterrosa.
