Hearing in Super Tucano bribe case reset for Nov. 30

P.R. Peña Antonio

Santo Domingo.-  A National District judge on Thursday postponed for November 30 the pretrial hearing against the accused of taking bribes from the Brazilian plane maker Embraer, to secure the purchase of eight Super Tucano aircraft.

Fourth Instruction Court judge Evelyn Rodriguez also ruled that the Prosecution properly subpoenaed the defendants’ attorneys about the evidence against their clients.

Defense lawyers Perfecto Acosta and Alejandro Tejada complained that the notice to appear wasn’t issued on time, which is why they asked the court to postpone the hearing.

Indicted in the case were former Armed Forces minister Pedro Rafael Peña Antonio, Dominican Air Force Col. Carlos Piccini and businessmen Daniel Aquino Hernández and Daniel Aquino Méndez.
