Santo Domingo.-  Santiago’s Aguilas on Wed. won the Dominican Winter Baseball Championship, their first crown since January 2008 the Eagles did not win but it seemed like it was an eternity.

The Aguila’s 11 to 5 win over Santo Domingo’s Tigres also earns them a berth in the Caribbean Baseball Series in Guadalajara, Mexico, where they are expected to arrive today Wed.

The win gives Santiago its 21st Winter Baseball crown, bested only by the Tigres, with 22.
