DR. Stand in previous ITB

Santo Domingo.- More than 30 companies from the Dominican Republic will promote the country at the International Tourism Exchange (ITB) in Berlin, Germany, from March 7 to 11, the Tourism Ministry announced Mon.

The ITB tourism fair “is ideal” for the Caribbean country to boost the arrival of German tourists to Dominican soil, which last year received 265,709 visitors from that country, or 6,576 more than in 2016.

Tourism said the increase, “shows that Germans continue to prefer the Dominican Republic as their favorite long-distance destination, maintaining first place among European countries and third in the world, as a source of tourists to the country.”

Tourism Minister Francisco Javier García will head the Dominican delegation, and will meet with representatives from airlines, tour operators, travel agents and business leaders, “to conclude agreements that guarantee more investment and tourists for the country.”

In a statement, Garcia said Tourism is Dominican Republic’s main source of income, and received 6.2 million tourists last year.
