No work release for convict in murders of 7 Colombians

Santo Domingo.- San Cristóbal Penalty judge Katherin Rubio on Wed. upheld a lower court ruling that denied a request for “work release” by Luis Lara, sentenced to 30 years of in prison for the August 4, 2008, murders of seven Colombians in the Paya, Bani .

Lara, who’s been in Najayo prison for nine years, asked the court for 5-day permits to complete the remaining 21 years of his sentence.

Lara’s conviction was appealed at the various courts and upheld by the Supreme Court.

A shakedown of hundreds of kilos of cocaine was reportedly behind the murders.
