Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Industries Association’s (AIRD) Monthly Manufacturing Activity Index (IMAM) reached 64.04 points in March, following the trend to surmount the 50.0 barrier posted in February.
The barrier, which had dropped during January 2016, 2017 and 2018, reached the second historical ceiling, and the first was 66.3 in March 2017.
The Index was under the 50.0 barrier in January with 45.1, rising to 63.0 in February and to 64.04 now in March, maintaining its historical performance.
Meanwhile the IMAM’s performance, in proportion to the size of the companies, stresses that in the medium and large companies the Index jumped from 58.8 to 64.2 in the medium and from 63.6 to 70.0 in the large ones.
However, small businesses saw their index fall from 70.0 to 56.1, and micro-industries dropped sharply from 71.7 in February to 31.7 in March.
