Dominican Republic 7.1% GDP growth tops Lat-Am in 2014
Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 7.1% in 2014, well above the average for Latin America, whose economy posted a mere 1.1% climb.
Central banker Hector Valdez Albizu made the announcement in a press conference Wednesday, and said after Dominican Republic, Panama posted Latin America’s second highest growth last year, at 6.3%.
The Central Bank said the sectors which most contributed to the growth were Mining, with 20.9%; Construction, 11.4%; services, 5.7%; Agro 5.2%; manufacturing, 5.0% and Free Zone manufacturing, 4.3%.
