Refinery shutdown for maintenance, US$25.0M refurbish

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s only refinery (Refidomsa PDV) on Wednesday announced the start of its scheduled plant shutdown for maintenance and refurbishing, at a cost of US$25.0 million.

Refinery general manager Hector Leonel Grullón said the work to last three months will not interrupt the supply of fuel to customers, noting that the shutdown is the refinery’s biggest technological challenge since it started operations in 1972.

"The company is aware of the great responsibility with the country, and promises our best efforts to deliver a totally new refinery to continue to supply fuel to the local market in the most efficient and safe manner," Grullon said.
